We recently received news that the Annual July Raccoon Creek Bluegrass Festival has been cancelled for 2026. Alaina Swofford posted the below announcement on the Raccoon Creek Music facebook page.
“Hello, everyone.
I know you have all been asking if we will be returning this year for our annual Bluegrass Festival.
It is with great sadness that I have to say we will not.![]()
In all honesty it is just too stressful on my dad and too much for me to handle alone.
It breaks my heart to share this news. We love you all and appreciate all the love and support we have received from each and everyone of you over the years.
I am not saying this is completely the end but for now, it is what’s best for our family.
The venue is still available for rental and small concerts. Nothing is scheduled at this time, but I will definitely keep you all posted of any events that may come up in the future.”

The last Bluegrass festival at the Raccoon Creek Music Park was held on the weekend of July 12th & 13th of 2024, which was the 50th anniversary of the festival.

The 2025 festival was cancelled and we were all hoping to see it return in 2026.
The first Raccoon Creek Bluegrass Festival was held in July of 1974 in Dallas, Georgia on property owned by Wylie and Annette Rakestraw, who also promoters of the festival. The Raccoon Creek Bluegrass Festival soon became one of the annual mid-summer stops for festival bands and fans of the music in Georgia.
Each year brought bigger crowds and the required improvements to the music park to support the festival including a kitchen serving breakfast, lunch and supper including barbecue, restrooms and showers, full RV electric / water connections and a covered stage / audience seating.
