The Matriarch of Georgia Bluegrass turns 92 today!
Rhythm guitarist, Onie Baxter, along with her husband, JN, paved the way for most all bluegrass musicians and bands in Georgia since the early 1960’s. With their group, The Bluegrass Five, JN and Onie traveled and played all over the Southeast and made thousands of friends along the way. Onie, in particular, inspired countless Georgia musicians and singers with her harmony vocal tutoring. Always smiling and supportive of all musicians, young and old, Onie is truly a living legend of Georgia Bluegrass.
