Welcome to Georgia Bluegrass
Home of The Georgia Bluegrass Music Hall Of Fame
This project has been on my heart and mind for quite some time. Like all of us, I’ve navigated the changing priorities and distractions that daily life brings. Thankfully, the thought of Georgia Bluegrass has gained momentum, and the time felt right to move forward and bring this vision to life.
I hope you find the website design, function and usability inviting and without challenge. The navigation tools above and to your right are hopefully intuitive and help you explore easily.
What Georgia Bluegrass is:
The goal is simple and heartfelt: to create a comprehensive, living resource for bluegrass music in Georgia, honoring our history, celebrating the present, and nurturing the future all while recognizing the people who made and make it possible.
What Georgia Bluegrass is Not:
Georgia Bluegrass is Not an Association or construed as such.
Georgia Bluegrass is Not in competition with any other organization / website with similar content.
At the core of this vision are cornerstone projects that shape everything Georgia Bluegrass represents:
- The Bluegrass Heritage Project
- Today & Tomorrow
- The Bluegrass Registry Project
- The Georgia Bluegrass JukeBox
- The Georgia Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame
The Bluegrass Heritage Project
This project is a significant undertaking, but an essential one. It is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Georgia’s bluegrass pioneers and trailblazers, as well as documenting the evolution of the music up to today’s scene. The project will be organized by decades, allowing each era to tell its story. To make this a true and meaningful record, I invite you to contribute stories, photographs, recordings, and memories from your part of the state.
Today & Tomorrow
This project focuses on the heartbeat of bluegrass in Georgia—right now and what lies ahead.
Today highlights current bluegrass news across the state. You are encouraged to submit articles for Georgia Bluegrass News, share upcoming shows in your community on the Upcoming Bluegrass Shows in Georgia calendar, and contribute photos of current, new or retired bands, festivals, venues, and historic or recent flyers.
Tomorrow is about growth and continuity—encouraging and mentoring new musicians, supporting bands and venues, and showing up for live music whenever possible. It’s about ensuring bluegrass continues to thrive for generations to come.
The Bluegrass Registry Project
The Registry Project is designed to connect the Georgia bluegrass community. It brings together musicians, bands, venues, festivals, instrument builders, instructors, and suppliers. By joining the registries that apply to you, you help build a powerful shared resource—and perhaps even reconnect with old friends from years past or find some long lost Georgia Bluegrass Band recording projects!
The Georgia Bluegrass JukeBox
The Georgia Bluegrass JukeBox is a collection of live and studio audiofiles that are organized into decades much like the organization of the Heritage Project. We will continually add music as it becomes available and we encourage you to submit any audio-files that you may like to share.
The Georgia Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame
As the essential pillar of Georgia Bluegrass, the Hall of Fame exists to recognize and honor those who have shaped and sustained bluegrass music in our state. While there is much work ahead, celebrating these contributions is a worthy and meaningful mission—one we are proud to champion.
Please take your time exploring what has already been put in place. This is just the beginning. Together, we can build a true living, breathing resource that reflects the full spirit, history, and future of the Georgia bluegrass community. If you have any thoughts or wish to reach out, please feel free to use the “Contact Us” form and drop us a line. We look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Jeff
