Article Submission Guidelines

Georgia Bluegrass News welcomes submissions that celebrate, document, and promote bluegrass music in Georgia and the surrounding region. We encourage contributions from musicians, promoters, historians, photographers, and fans.


1. Acceptable Article Types

We consider original content in the following categories:

  • News & Announcements – Festivals, concerts, jams, album releases, awards, and organizational updates
  • Artist & Band Features – Profiles, interviews, and career milestones
  • Historical Articles – Georgia bluegrass history, pioneers, venues, and legacy festivals
  • Event Recaps & Reviews – Concerts, festivals, workshops, and community gatherings
  • Opinion & Commentary – Thoughtful perspectives on bluegrass culture and community
  • Educational Pieces – Instructional content, traditions, instruments, and preservation efforts

2. Content Requirements

  • Articles must be original and not previously published elsewhere
  • Content should be relevant to Georgia bluegrass or have a clear regional connection
  • Writing must be clear, factual, and respectful
  • Promotional content should be informative, not purely advertising

Georgia Bluegrass News reserves the right to edit for clarity, length, grammar, and house style.


3. Article Length

  • Short announcements: 150–300 words
  • Standard articles: 500–800 words
  • In-depth features or history pieces: Up to 1,200 words

4. Formatting Guidelines

  • Submit text in Word (.doc/.docx) or Google Docs format
  • Use standard fonts, 12-point size, single spaced
  • Include a clear headline and, if applicable, subheadings
  • Avoid excessive formatting, special fonts, or embedded layouts

5. Photos & Media

  • Photos are encouraged and should be high-resolution (JPEG or PNG)
  • Submit images as separate attachments, not embedded in the document
  • Include photo credits and confirm you have permission to use them
  • By submitting images, you grant Georgia Bluegrass News permission to publish them with proper credit

6. Author Information

Please include:

  • Author name (or preferred byline)
  • City and state
  • Short bio (25–50 words, optional)
  • Email address or website (optional, for attribution)

7. Submission & Review Process

  • Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis
  • Publication timing depends on relevance, space, and editorial schedule
  • Editors may request revisions or additional information
  • Submission does not guarantee publication

8. Rights & Permissions

By submitting content, you grant Georgia Bluegrass News non-exclusive rights to publish, edit, and archive the article. Authors retain full ownership of their work.
